Small and powerfull for a medium price May 31, 2010 I have another fan, with no brand name, of roughly the same size. This Lakewood is much stronger and does not wobble. For a relatively small price increase over most bargain-priced fans, the Lakewood offers function close to the range of even more expensive "v_____"-brand fans.
The jury is still out Mar 09, 2010 Thirty-two days after purchasing this fan which is 2 days after the return policy expires, it stopped working. Somehow a wire became disconnected, but luckily, my fiance was able to fix it. So the jury is still out on this product, considering it randomly quits working. When it is working, it is a great fan with a pleasant hum and comfortable air flow. My fiance wouldn't be able to sleep without it, hence the problem when it turned up broken. I'm hoping this fan continues to work...
Great fan if used on "low" setting Dec 05, 2009 Lakewood Kool Operator Jr. Fan
Pros:
Very Quiet on low speed, and moves a good bit of air. Medium and high move even more air. Sturdy construction and doesn't look cheap. Quite compact. Can be angled from horizontal to straight up, and stays in place. Legs can be mounted to screws, say for hanging on the wall. Very reasonably priced.
Cons:
Loud on medium and very loud on high.
Other thoughts:
This fan nicely fills the gap between a small personal fan and a larger floor fan. It is great for small areas where you need decent airflow and not much noise. If you need more air than the low setting provides, however, you may be better served by a 14 or 16 inch fan (this one is 8). This fan is very loud on anything but low.
Best Fan in the World Aug 28, 2009 I currently have 6 of these fans. 4 of them run in the 4 bedrooms of my house, every night (sometimes all day as well), 365 days a year. The kids and us, for better or worse have gotten used to the sound of a fan to go to sleep. At the lowest speed they are very quiet though, while still moving a decent amount of air. Some comments though. The fan does have a strange switch arrangement, it goes from off to 3 then 2 then 1. So to turn them off from 1 you first have to go through 2 and 3. The switch itself is quiet though. The fan is very directional, it really directs the air, which I consider to be a plus, not a minus. The stand makes a loud plasticy CLICK when you move it up or down. We don't move it much and this does not appear to wear out, dispite the loud click sound. The fans will last at least 6 to 7 years running every night for 10 hours, and as I said previously, many of the days as well. The additional 2 were purchased because I was afraid that these were wearing out, but they never actually did wear out. The base is very sturdy as well, making it great for putting on a hamper or other soft surface and not having to worry about it tipping over (oscillating fans don't have this large of a base). Have never seen a better fan. The main reasons I have purchased these are because of their durability and their quietness. I have others, but I don't trust them to run all day and night like I do these fans. These never get hot either.
Quiet and reliable for almost 10 years! Aug 22, 2009 We bought a Kool Operator Jr. fan in late 1999 or early in 2000 for our motor home. It served us well for two years on the road, and we have continued to use it during the summer months since then. On Low speed setting it produces a pleasant breeze and is quiet enough not to disturb your TV viewing or your sleep. All in all, this is a sturdy little fan that you can place almost anywhere you need it. Highly recommended!
