Poor illumination. Nov 16, 2008 The main complaint I have with this item is the light doesn't illuminate very much at all. I don't understand the purpose of the suction cups on the water pump, they wont stick to plastic under water. The pump also hums fairly loud so you would want to place the fountain where it won't annoy you.

Deceptive Advertising Dec 29, 2007 When the description states that it has a "bronze finish and stained glass appearance," it means a bronze finish appearance as well, as in actuality the whole thing is made of cheap plastic.
After all, what can I expect for $30 right?
Well, I expected better, as $30 isn't chump change for most people.
So it's best to place this on an elevated shelf or somewhere beyond eye level so you (and esp. your guests) don't notice all that cheap craftsmanship (it's best say for somewhere in the corner, to accentuate your decor, and NOT as the main focus point of your coffee table, for example, where someone would be able to touch it or realize its cheapness).
And I'd also recommend, like the previous reviewer, to place some small stones on the basin filter and cover it up to at least somewhat mask all the cheap plastic appearance.
On the good side, the motor/water pump is quiet, and the sound of the water spouts is soothing, if not a little too quiet itself - it's best for a quiet room.
And FYI - you need to increase the pump setting past the minimum default to get all the holes to spout water.
Overall, its cheap craftsmanship do not warrant the $30 price - I'm sure you can find a better fountain in that price range.

relaxing Dec 11, 2007 Very happy with this purchase....it's relaxing listening to the water while enjoying the glow illuminating within. For a decorative effect, I placed acrylic clear stones to cover the screen which also catches the light. Unfortunately, the color is not as pictured, it is more like dark gray.
