Approximately 13.3' of length, commercial grade. The packaging says that the LED chips are long lasting--but are not replaceable. There is a small clip on each individual light for attaching, that looks sturdy. The unlit strand looks crystal clear (plastic?). Once lit, it starts out with solid colors and then like the previous reviewer says, each individual bulb starts to phase through a series of colors, for an overall random color effect that is very pretty (see video of light strand being plugged in and starting color effect). Will be putting these up outdoors, and will update review if there are issues with quality/longevity.
EDITED TO ADD: We've used these lights for three holiday winters now, still going strong!

I love these lights! They phase in from one color to another, but not at the same time. It's more like a slow gentle morph on down the line as one is turning from red to green the next one can be changing from green to blue and so on, and so on. It's the coolest thing ever. My neighbors are all coming over to ask me where I got them. The title is a bit misleading, they don't really twinkle per se, it's more like what I just decribed.

I wanted to replace a 30 year old string of tree lights, many of which were twinkle bulbs. The GKI LED bulbs, although they do not twinkle on and off, provide fascinating random changes with a 7 color cycle. Once the string is warmed up, each bulb switches colors at a different pace. The customer review video titled 'fun lights' provided by 'D O' is well worth watching for anyone considering these bulbs. The video and written review convinced me to buy these bulbs.
Perhaps the price seems a bit high for only 20 bulbs. I bought 2 strings since my Christmas trees are usually about 5 feet tall. I am impressed with the quality of the bulbs, a hard-shelled clear plastic, and hopeful that with the LED technology, this product will last a great many years making my total cost worth the money I spent.

Very Nice Xmas Lights (a little on the expensive side)...I only gave this purchase a "4" because one of the two packages was opened and item was hanging half out of the bag, also, the green wire was not neatly twisted like you see most Xmas lighting. In a store, I wouldn't even consider buying an item that has been opened and hanging out, when you buy online, what can you do...BUT bottom line so far today they are working and look great!!
